Before working with Sensorfact, Eurecat’s energy monitoring setup was limited. Some main electricity meters measured the consumption of production and infrastructure. This made it impossible to see which parts of the process used the most energy — or where potential inefficiencies were hiding.
To comply with ISO 50001 for energy management, they needed to present accurate energy KPIs for some plants. However, with such limited data, reporting was time-consuming and largely based on assumptions.
“We needed data about our electricity consumption. With Sensorfact, we can spread the sensors across the plant and really see where the use of electricity is.”
In addition to quality and compliance, there was also a financial motivation. Because the company’s mother organization is based in France, the German site must submit detailed energy cost reports every month. Without timely data, this meant manual calculations, Excel sheets, and occasional errors — including simple issues like misplaced commas in numbers.
To gain a deeper and more reliable view of its energy usage, Eurecat implemented Sensorfact’s Energy Management System (EMS) together with gas pulse sensors. The setup includes 30 electricity sensors and 10 gas pulse sensors, strategically placed across the site to measure individual processes and areas.
This allowed Eurecat to create an extra layer of measurement after the main meters, separating energy use between production and infrastructure. The system now provides detailed insights per section, process, or treatment plant — all updated in real time.
“Electricity and gas are our main drivers. With Sensorfact, we can forecast our bill, allocate costs per section, and see which process is more efficient.”
Every month, the team receives automated reports by email, making it easier to forecast bills, allocate costs accurately, and share data with management in France. When deeper analysis is needed, Robert and his team can log in to the platform to examine energy trends for specific machines or processes. The reports can also be customized, allowing Eurecat to exclude sensors that are not installed in parallel or to tailor reporting for specific use cases.
“It’s easy to create the reports and adapt them to our needs. The setup is flexible, and we can always add or move sensors if necessary.”
Since using Sensorfact, Eurecat has achieved complete visibility over its energy consumption. The company now understands exactly how much energy is used by infrastructure compared to production — an insight that was previously impossible.
The data has also helped them adjust their internal KPIs and identify where energy efficiency improvements can be made.
Before, they manually measured consumption for one week and used that as an average for KPI reporting. Now, Sensorfact provides continuous data throughout the entire month, allowing Eurecat to choose a truly representative week and eliminate guesswork.
In addition to improved accuracy, the new system saves significant time. Reports are automatically generated and error-free, helping the team submit monthly data to the mother company with confidence. The flexibility of the solution and the affordable cost per sensor also allows Eurecat to keep expanding its monitoring setup as needed.
