Information you provide us
When you start using services of Sensorfact we ask you some company and personal information to be able to create a user account for you in our web-application, namely: your email address, name and optionally your phone number. The first two are used for logging in to our software and your phone number and email for contacting purposes such as reports and notifications.
Information we collect to improve our services and user experience
We collect additional data when you use our web application to log errors, monitor which pages of our software are most attractive and which ones need a bit more polishing from our end. For these reasons we collect:
- Your IP (Internet Protocol) address, collected by Google Analytics and processed anonymously
- Your default browser language, to help you select the right language within our tool and use your preferences such as currency and unit of measurement
- The pages you view in our application, how often and for how long
- Errors that occur when you use our software

How we use information we collect

We use the data we collect such as your email address and chosen password to authenticate you (make sure you are an actual user of our system).
To improve and maintain our services
We log any errors that occur while you are using our software so that we can investigate and solve them. Also we keep track of how you use our software by tracking the path you take and which pages you view for what time. By doing this we can get a better understanding with minimal effort from our users about which pages are interesting for them, which are maybe still a bit too difficult to understand and which ones need our full attention.
To notify/inform you
Optionally, if you chose to enrol for this, we also provide you with update reports via email and notifications via either email or SMS. For these services we use your email address and optionally your phone number. You can unsubscribe from these notifications at any given time by going to the settings page in our software.

How we store and secure your information
Information storage and security
Sensor communication: our sensors communicate using the EnOcean protocol to send data in a very raw form to our bridges. The sensor data can thus only be read using a device with the same EnOcean protocol and does not contain any privacy sensitive data (only raw EnOcean telegrams).
Bridge communication: once our bridges receive sensor data, the data is transmitted over 4G/WiFi/Ethernet (depending on the preferred option) to our platform. Also on the bridge level, we do not store or use any privacy sensitive data. Only raw measurements are transmitted to our platform in a secured way (using SSH over a VPN).
We use data hosting services provided by Amazon (AWS) in the Ireland region to store all information we collect. Most of our hosted services are secured using SSL. If your wish to receive any additional technical and/or security specifications concerning our infrastructure please feel free to contact us.
While we take technical precautions to assure a level of data security as high as possible, we can never guarantee an impenetrable system.
How long we keep information
- Account information: all information concerning your account will be retained for as long as your account is active to be able to offer you an optimal service.
- Tracking information: Tracking information: all information we track about your use of our application is retained for a maximum period of 26 months.
